Just Stop Oil campaigners disrupt another key route into Central London
Plans for a new coalmine in Cumbria ‘signal that our government does not care about everyday people or democracy,’ the environmentalists say
Just Stop Oil activists march through Clapham, south London

CLIMATE activists once again disrupted traffic on key routes in central London yesterday despite the snowy conditions to demand the government end new fossil fuel licences.

Around 20 Just Stop Oil members wearing high-vis vests walked onto the A24 near Clapham South and took part in a slow march, accompanied by police officers.

The campaign group has opted to proceed with slow marches instead of its earlier tactics of blocking roads completely.

A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said that plans for a new coalmine in Cumbria “signal that our government does not care about everyday people or democracy.”

“Their support and backing of new coal, oil and gas, is a plan to destroy our freedoms, our rights and the rule of law,” they said.

“It is a plan that will result in the deaths of countless millions and many more not knowing if they should stay where they have lived for generations or if they leave where they can go.”
