More than a third of people in Scotland's A&Es waiting longer than 4 hours to be seen

MORE than a third of people attending A&E in Scotland were not seen within the four-hour target time in the first full week of this month, officials figures revealed yesterday.

In the week ending December 11, the second-worst weekly performance was recorded, with only 62.4 per cent of patients seen and admitted, transferred or discharged within four hours, according to data from Public Health Scotland.

A shocking 3,048 patients waited for over eight hours in an emergency department and 1,153 patients languished in A&E for over 12 hours before being admitted, transferred or discharged.
