Government ‘missing in action,' slams Labour as energy firms prepare to hike bills

THE government is missing in action during a crisis of its own making, Labour said today, as it was revealed that energy firms will write to customers about bill increases.

Household bills are set to rise to about £3,000 per year from April 1 and energy companies have to give customers reasonable notice of price changes that will leave them worse off.

The government is reportedly reviewing the level of support it gives households amid warnings that many more will be pushed into difficulties.
