Zelensky promises retaliation against Russian missile strike ahead of inspection of new fighter jets
‘RETALIATION': Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, with Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen

UKRAINIAN President Volodymyr Zelensky warned yesterday that his country’s forces would retaliate after a Russian missile strike on the northern city of Chernihiv killed seven people, including a young child.

“I am sure our soldiers will respond to Russia for this terrorist attack. Respond tangibly,” Mr Zelensky said in a video address published in the early hours.

He added that a six-year-old girl named Sofia was among those killed in Saturday’s attack and confirmed that the wounded included 15 children.
