LATIN AMERICA continues to be a region of inequality and low-quality employment, according to a new report published on Tuesday.
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Economic Commission for Latin America (Eclac) warned in a joint report that even though the region shows signs of post-Covid recovery, it still experiences low job quality, increasing poverty and inequality.
The report said: “Growth projections for the economies of Latin America and the Caribbean point to a modest advance of 1.2 per cent in 2023, a scenario that, coupled with relatively high inflation rates, will harm workers, since they will have to work in jobs of worrisome quality.”
