European diplomats gather in Kiev to show support for Ukraine as political strains emerge

EUROPE’S top diplomats gathered in Kiev today to show support for Ukraine in the war with Russia despite signs of political strains emerging in the European Union.

Foreign ministers converged in the Ukrainian capital for an unannounced meeting that officials said would review the bloc’s support for the nation and discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace formula.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the foreign ministers’ first joint meeting outside EU borders underscored the EU’s commitment to Ukraine.
