Former Welsh health minister tells Covid-19 inquiry Boris Johnson was ‘scatty, incoherent and rambling’
Screen grab from the UK Covid-19 Inquiry live stream of of Vaughan Gething, the Welsh health minister during the pandemic, giving evidence to phase four of the inquiry at the Mercure Cardiff North Hotel, March 11, 2024

VAUGHAN GETHING’S contribution to the Cardiff hearing of the UK Covid Inquiry was condemned as “a word salad of waffle” by a bereaved campaigner today.

The inquiry opened with questions relating to Mr Gething’s WhatsApp messages from the pandemic period, when he was Wales’s health minister, which have been deleted.

He described their deletion as a “real embarrassment” and said he had spoken with the IT team at the Senedd on multiple occasions to attempt to get them back.
