Uganda Afghanistan Cricket

MEN’S CRICKET: Uganda lost to Afghanistan by 125 runs in their first ever appearance at the Twenty20 World Cup on Tuesday morning. Ugandan captain Brian Masaba took 2-21 as the Afghanis posted 183-5 with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zabran sharing a stand of 154 for the first wicket. In reply Uganda were all out for just 58 with only two players reaching double figures as paceman Fazalhaq Farooqi bagged 5-9.

SPEEDWAY: Emil Sayfutdinov top-scored with 15+1 points as holders Ipswich edged to a 46-44 win at Birmingham in the first leg of their Premiership Knockout Cup semi final on Monday night. The second leg is due to take place tomorrow evening. In Premiership league action Rohan Tungate claimed 13 points as Oxford continued their superb home form after leading from the first tape to earn a narrow 46-44 victory over Leicester.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Wigan will be without Adam Keighran and Tyler Dupree for this Saturday’s Challenge Cup final against Warrington after both received three match suspensions for foul play. Keighran was sent off for a dangerous contact to the head in last Saturday’s Super League clash between whereas Dupree was retrospectively banned after the referee missed his head-butt in a tackle with Sam Powell.
