MEN’S CYCLING: Australian Ben O’Connor takes a three minute and 53 second lead over second-placed Primoz Roglic into tomorrow’s mountainous stage 10 of La Vuelta with Ecuador’s Richard Carapaz a further 39 seconds back in third. Adam Yates is the highest placed Briton in seventh after he rode solo for nearly 60 kilometres to win Sunday’s stage from Motril to Granada and take the king of the mountains jersey.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Whitehaven marked head coach Kyle Amor’s first game in charge with an 18-10 win at Dewsbury that moved them out of the Championship relegation zone. The Cumbrians are suffering financial problems, only confirmed that they could fulfil the fixture two days before kick off and fielded just one substitute for Sunday’s game. Defeat confirmed Dewsbury’s demotion to League One with five games still to be played.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Katie Wilkinson netted another hat-trick as last season’s runners-up Rangers romped to a 9-0 win at Montrose and remain top of the Scottish Women’s Premier League on goal difference from Hibs, who won 5-0 at Motherwell and Celtic 4-0 winners in Aberdeen. Queen’s Park edged out Spartans 1-0, Glasgow City earned a 2-0 victory at Partick Thistle and bottom club Dundee United lost 8-0 at home to Hearts.
