Joe Biden wants ‘to go out with a bang’ as he baits Russia into a nuclear war in Ukraine, STW says

US PRESIDENT Joe Biden wants to “go out with a bang” as he baits Russia into a nuclear war in Ukraine, Stop the War Coalition warned today.

He has said Ukraine can use US-supplied weapons to strike into Russia in a major U-turn after months of pressure from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Number 10 said Ukraine must be in the “strongest possible position going into the winter to defend its sovereign territory.”

She added that US President-elect Donald Trump is telling “the truth” about Russian premier Vladimir Putin being goaded into the Ukraine war by Nato expansionism.

“Occasionally even our enemies and people we disagree do tell the truth,” she said.

Amid expectations Mr Trump will pull US support for the war when he enters the White House in January, she added: “The point is when he says this war is unwinnable, when he says that people want peace, this was a popular argument with people in the US.

“We are not helping the Ukrainians by funding this war which is going to lead to huge numbers of casualties if it continues and the best thing that can happen is we get a settlement.”

Independent MP Jeremy Corbyn said: “President Biden’s utterly reckless decision has jeopardised the safety of millions — perhaps billions — of people all over the world.

“Presidents and prime ministers must surely know that in the event of nuclear war, nobody wins.

“Instead of increasing the risk of escalation, governments should be working to find diplomatic solutions that bring about peace.”

Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament general secretary Sophie Bolt blasted Mr Biden’s “incredibly dangerous and reckless decision.”

“The use of these long-range missiles risks drawing nuclear-armed Nato into an all-out confrontation with Russia,” she said.
