MEN’S FOOTBALL: Barnet moved top of the National League by a point after they brushed aside Maidenhead United 3-0, former leaders Forest Green drew 1-1 at Altrincham and York suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at second-bottom Boston.

Aldershot drew 2-2 with Tamworth to extend their unbeaten run to eight games, while basement dwellers Ebbsfleet made it 25 games without a win in all competitions when they went down 1-0 at home to Braintree.

BOXING: Sheffield’s Dalton Smith successfully defended his European light-welterweight title on Saturday evening with a first round stoppage of Walid Ouizza.
