MEN’S FOOTBALL: Botafogo survived having defensive midfielder Gregore sent off in the second minute to beat Atletico Miniero 3-1 in the Copa Libertadores final on Saturday evening. It’s the first time that Botafogo have won the title, South America’s equivalent to the Champions League, but was a record-breaking sixth successive triumph for a Brazilian team, the last three of which have all gone to clubs from Rio de Janeiro.

SPEEDWAY: Manchester’s Belle Vue Aces have retained five of the squad that led them to Premiership glory for next season’s campaign. The Aces will again be led by Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley with Jaimon Lidsey, Norick Blodorn and Jake Mulford all returning. New signing Zach Cook replaces Antti Vuolas. No team has defended the Premiership since 2015 although Belle Vue have finished in the top three for the past four years.

MEN’S BOXING: Olympic gold medallist Galal Yafai produced a dominant performance to stop former world champion Sunny Edwards in the sixth round of their interim WBC flyweight title clash on Saturday night. Yafai improved his record to nine unbeaten bouts while Edwards, who struggled throughout the fight, has announced his retirement. On the undercard Kieron Conway beat Ryan Kelly by split decision to become Commonwealth middleweight champion.
