COCO GAUFF carried the momentum from a strong start through to the finish line as she defeated Jessica Pegula 6-2 6-4 to claim her second Cincinnati Open title today.

Gauff raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set and also took an early advantage in the second, ultimately closing out the victory in an hour and 14 minutes.

“I think it was a long journey, but I’m happy,” Gauff said. “I think it’s night and day, the player I was last year to now. I don’t think that this is an indicator that I’m going to do well in New York. Just knowing the quality ones that I had this week, hopefully I can use that experience.”

The world number four last won the tournament in 2023, with this year’s event featuring the first all-American women’s final since 1970.

In the men’s final, France’s Arthur Fils lifted his first Masters title by beating home hope Frances Tiafoe 6-3 1-6 6-0.
