THE so-called Bicester Against MoD Asylum Centre group is directly promoting convicted far-right activists, Oxfordshire Stand Up To Racism (OSUTR) said today.

OSUTR vice-chair Ian Mckendrick voiced “deep concern” over the group’s organisers posting videos of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon (aka Tommy Robinson) and his so-called right-hand man Daniel Thomas on its social media channels.

He said: “We condemn the organisers of this group for the racist links they are building.

“It is truly shocking that the organisers are promoting far-right activists with violent criminal histories on their campaign Facebook page.”

Mr Thomas, who has been a key figure in the Birmingham-based anti-migrant group Raise the Colours, was once jailed for two years for a botched kidnap effort.

He reportedly appeared in a video on the group’s Facebook page interviewing another far-right activist with Mr Yaxley-Lennon, who also has multiple convictions for violence, fraud and contempt of court.

OSUTR, which has joined protests to oppose plans to house 1,250 single adult male asylum-seekers at the former Ministry of Defence (MoD) site, will be campaigning in Bicester town centre today.

The anti-racist campaigners called for the processing of asylum claims to be made “more efficient” when they joined one of two separate protests in Bicester town centre last month.

Today they will call for an end to the government’s plan to force people seeking asylum into “mass inhumane camps,” with action to be taken to build communities where people are integrated instead.

The group will also encourage Bicester residents who oppose the camp but who do not want to be associated with far-right racists to join them.
