MEN’S FOOTBALL: Celtic can seal a place in the Champions League phase Tuesday evening when they take a 3-0 advantage into the second leg of their qualifying tie at Austria’s LASK FC. 

The Celts crashed out of the competition at the same stage last year. 

Tuesday’s other matches see Bodo/Glimt, who reached the last 16 in 2025, 3-1 up on Nijmegen-based NEC and Azerbaijan’s Sabah needing to overturn a 2-1 deficit against Hapoel Be’er Sheva. 

MEN’S BOXING: London’s WBO middleweight champion Denzell Bentley is likely to make the second defence of his title against Yoenli Hernandez after the unbeaten Cuban beat Argentina’s Francisco Veron on points in Las Vegas on Sunday. 

Hernandez is a two-time World Championship gold medallist who has won nine of his 11 professional bouts by knockout. 

Bentley beat Venezuela’s Endry Saavedra to win the WBO title in April.

WOMEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Defending champions Wigan top the Super League by four points after they maintained their 100 per cent record with an 11-try 56-4 mauling of St Helens and second-placed Leeds suffered an 18-14 defeat at York Valkyrie. 

Bottom club Barrow earned their first win of the season with a 16-8 victory over Leigh, while Amelia Brown scored four tries as Huddersfield thumped Featherstone 44-6.

SPEEDWAY: Hosts Poland won their third consecutive European under-24s title after Maksymilian Pawelczak held off Denmark’s Villads Nagel in the final race to secure the title by just one point in Grudziadz.
