THE SNP must include a “clear plan” to fully implement Scotland’s historic boycott and sanctions of Israel in its programme for government, the country’s Green Party said yesterday.

The Scottish Parliament voted for a boycott of Israel and companies complicit in its occupation of Palestine last year, making Scotland the first country in the world to do so.

The Greens have hit out at SNP ministers for failing “to take the action needed to implement it” despite backing the motion.

“There have been no legislative changes, while Barclays, a company linked to financing Israel’s military, has been named as a partner in the Scottish government’s bond scheme,” said a party spokesman. 

The Scottish Greens are calling for the end of all contracts with companies identified by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights as complicit in Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank.
