Plaid launch a consultation on a sport and culture strategy for Wales

POLITICAL opponents are deriding the Welsh government’s announcement on Wednesday at the Eisteddfod of a consultation on a new culture and sport strategy for Wales.

The consultation called “Unlocking Wales’s Potential” is a call for evidence to inform a new culture and sport strategy as an essential part of national life.

Welsh cabinet minister for culture and sport Heledd Fychan said: “This initial conversation at the Eisteddfod will be the start of a new chapter for culture and sport in Wales.

“Over the next few months, everyone across Wales will have the opportunity to contribute towards the development of this strategy.”

Welsh Labour’s spokesman for culture and sports Mike Hedges said: “Yet again we see Plaid Cymru delaying delivery by developing another strategy and a chance for a chat.

“The lack of any meaningful action is astonishing, and I worry that this Plaid government lack a clear, detailed vision on any area of Welsh life.”

The call for evidence will run until December 18.
