BORIS JOHNSON’S “obscene” plan to extend right to buy was slammed today as a shameful attempt to resurrect a “Margaret Thatcher greatest hit” and risked worsening Britain’s housing crisis.
In a speech in Blackpool, the Prime Minister pledged to turn “benefits into bricks” by changing the welfare rules so that 1.5 million people who are in work but also on housing benefit could put the support payment towards a mortgage.
It came as Mr Johnson attempted to repair his relationship with Tory MPs following a revolt against his leadership.
