GORDON PARSONS recommends an entertaining account of the years between Germany’s defeat in WWI and Hitler’s seizure of power
Child’s Pose (15)
Directed by Cain Peter Netzer
Four stars
Luminita Gheorghiu is truly terrifying playing powerful matriarch Cornelia Keneres, who will do anything to save her worthless son from being punished for killing a child in an accident.
Dressed to impress with nouveaux-riche extravagance, she attempts to bribe compliant authorities and witnesses to alter evidence, including trying to pay off the child’s family.
