Labour calls for government action to help the NHS as winter crisis approaches

THE NHS is facing a winter crisis unless the Tory government takes urgent action, the Labour Party warned yesterday.

Labour said that staff shortages, failing equipment, winter ailments and the second wave of Covid-19 are set to create “unmanageable problems” for hospitals across England.

Releasing new research detailing hundreds of extreme risks to patient and staff safety, it called for urgent action to ensure that the NHS is equipped to deal with the impact of Covid-19 through the winter.
