Waiting lists caused Scots to spend more money on private healthcare in 2021 than 2019

PEOPLE in Scotland spent more money on private healthcare in 2021 than 2019 due to ballooning NHS waiting lists, figures released by Scottish Labour found today.

Spending on private cataracts, hip and knee operations have all increased in recent years, according to the findings.

The figures reveal individuals were paying £6.4 million in Scotland for those operations in 2019.
