Durham students protest against London-high rents

STUDENTS held a candle-lit protest in Durham on Tuesday night in opposition to soaring accommodation costs, falling grants and zero-hours contracts imposed on staff.

The protest was supported by the Unite union’s community branch, which is open to students.

Among those taking part was Jasmine Bourke from Leeds, a second year English Literature student at Durham.
