Young parents risk losing their job if they ask for flexible work arrangements, TUC warns
Two out of five young parents on low wages are “penalised” when they ask for flexible work arrangements with some even losing their job, a report published today reveals.
The TUC found that more than half of those working in retail, hospitality and social care did not know their employment rights, with many unaware of their entitlement to unpaid parental leave.
Many said they were given fewer hours, worse shifts or even lost their job as a result of asking their employer for flexible arrangements, the poll showed.
