IRAN: Tehran has handed over its latest proposal for negotiations with the US to mediators in Pakistan today, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

The US and Pakistan did not immediately confirm receiving the new proposal, and there was no word on the details.

The Trump administration declined to say whether it had received a new proposal from Iran. Pakistan also did not confirm or deny the reports.

RUSSIA: Ukrainian forces struck an oil terminal in the Russian Black Sea city of Tuapse today, Kiev said, the fourth such attack targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure in just over two weeks.

Local officials in Russia said a Ukrainian drone attack sparked the blaze and that no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, Russia attacked the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil with over 50 drones today. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that at least five people had been wounded by the attacks.

UNITED NATIONS: The UN security council voted on Thursday to reduce the number of its peacekeeping troops in South Sudan from 17,000 to 12,000.

The vote on the US-drafted resolution passed 13-0, with Russia and China abstaining. It also extended the mandate of the force until April 30, 2027.

US ambassador Mike Waltz told the council the resolution seeks to get the force “back to basics” — keeping the peace, protecting civilians and supporting access to humanitarian aid.

MEXICO: The government has vowed to launch an independent investigation of 10 current and former officials that the US has indicted on charges of drug trafficking in connection with the Sinaloa Cartel.

President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that she wouldn’t let foreign governments meddle in her country’s affairs to serve their own political purposes.

Mexico’s government said that it had seen an extradition request from the US for 10 citizens and added that the request didn’t provide enough evidence to warrant arrests.
