GAZA: Israeli forces killed two people today, media reports say.
Al-Jazeera reported that a child was killed by an Israeli drone in the north, when children approaching their former homes which had been demolished by the Israeli occupiers were fired on.
The Wafa news agency said 20-year-old Muhand Jamal al-Najjar was shot dead by soldiers in Khan Younis. No explanation was given.
AUSTRALIA: The government banned one of its citizens from returning home from a Syrian camp for Isis captives today.
The unnamed individual is one of a group of 34 women and children who had been due to be flown to Australia on Monday.
Isis fighters, their wives and children have been held in camps since the jihadist group’s defeat by Kurdish forces in northern Syria in 2019.
Australian PM Anthony Albanese said he was sorry children were caught up in the ban but it was their parents’ fault for joining Isis.
FRANCE: Police have arrested 11 people in relation to the death of a far-right activist, prosecutors said today.
Quentin Deranque died on Saturday from injuries sustained in a fight on Thursday between far-right activists protesting at a meeting being addressed by France Unbowed MP Rima Hassan, and leftwingers in attendance.
Deranque had attended as “security” for an anti-immigrant women’s group, Nemesis Collective.
PERU: Congress voted on Tuesday to remove interim president Jose Jeri.
Mr Jeri is being investigated for corruption over undisclosed meetings with Chinese businessmen.
He had replaced Dina Boluarte, herself installed when Congress removed the last elected president, the Marxist Pedro Castillo, and threw him in jail. Peru’s first election since then is due in April.
