LEBANON: Israeli jets have attacked Beirut’s southern suburbs after issuing a warning about an hour earlier, marking the third Israeli strike on the area since a ceasefire took effect in late November.

The Israeli military said it had targeted a Hezbollah precision-guided missile storage facility, but President Joseph Aoun condemned the strike and called on the United States and France to “assume their responsibilities” as guarantors of the ceasefire.

FRANCE: A man suspected of killing a Muslim worshipper at a mosque in the southern town of La Grand-Combe has given himself up to police in Italy after two days on the run, authorities said today.

Local prosecutor Abdelkrim Grini said that investigators favour the hypothesis of an anti-Muslim act, while also looking at other leads.

CANADA: A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder over the deaths of 11 people when a car rammed a crowd of people at a Filipino heritage festival in Vancouver.

Kai-Ji Adam Lo, 30, was charged with eight counts of second degree murder in a video appearance before a judge on Sunday, said British Columbia prosecutors’ spokeswoman Damienne Darby. Mr Lo, who investigators say has a history of mental health issues, has not yet entered a plea.

CANADA: Voters headed to polling stations today in a general election that will decide whether to extend the Liberal Party’s decade in power or instead hand control to the Conservatives.

Public opinion surveys suggest that US President Donald Trump’s threat to annexe Canada has massively boosted the chances of incumbent Prime Minister Mark Carney defeating opposition leader Pierre Poilievre.
