A WELSH health board HR director was urged to resign as Unite announced further strike action by workers today.
The union called on Hywel Daniel to step down over the “disgraceful” way he has managed the dispute at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB).
Unite alleges the health visitors are losing out between £8,000 and £9,000 per year due to not being paid the correct salary based on their qualifications.
Issuing a further two months’ strike notice, Unite general secretary Sharon Graham slammed CTMUHB’s “shameful response” to the dispute.
It is about “what’s fair — these vital and highly skilled health visitors are owed the right wage — something even the Welsh government has acknowledged and called on the Cwm Taf Health Board to pay,” she added.
“Until they do, our members will continue their strike action and have the full backing of Unite.”
A spokesperson for CTMUHB said that it is “disappointed” with Unite’s decision to further extend this strike action, adding: “The health board remains absolutely committed to resolving this dispute as soon as possible and will continue to engage with Unite through all appropriate channels.”
