WILDFIRES continued to devastate nations across the globe yesterday, threatening lives and homes to an unprecedented extent.
In Indonesia, firefighters battled a peatland fire on the island of Sumatra that was growing in size near a dense residential area.
Their struggle was hampered by limited firefighting equipment and a distant water source, located an hour’s journey away from the fire near the village of Pulau Negara in South Sumatra province.
