A HARD-FOUGHT game between West Ham and Spurs finished with honours even at the London Stadium on Tuesday evening.

It was Spurs who dominated much of the possession, but West Ham had some of the most decisive chances in this game.

The match started with a tale of two chances. First, Mohammed Kudus won possession on the left and found Jarrod Bowen with the resulting cross, but the England international side-footed wide.

Play then rapidly moved towards the Hammers end, with Timo Werner crossing for Brennan Johnson, who scored to the delight of the away fans.

Pedro Porro then saw a shot flash wide, after being fed by Spurs captain Son Heung Min.

West Ham continued to press, resulting in Kurt Zouma heading home a Bowen corner.

The home side then almost took the lead, as a swerving James Ward-Prowse free-kick was pushed out from under the bar by Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario.

West Ham’s greatest threat in the second half came from veteran Michail Antonio.

Two minutes in, he unleashed a shot that was pushed wide by Vicario.

Then, the big striker latched onto a long ball from the back to muscle his way free, but with just the keeper to beat, he fired straight at Vicario. The officials ruled there had been a foul.

Both sides had chances at the death but failed to convert.

West Ham manager David Moyes was pleased to see far more promise from his side than in the 4-3 defeat against Newcastle at the weekend.

“We had to be resilient against a very good Tottenham side,” said Moyes, who was encouraged after securing four points from Tottenham this season.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou felt his side coped well but “lacked a little clarity of thought.”

“We could have got some better outcomes,” said Postecoglou, who believes his team is heading in the right direction.
