Thousands to march against Reform’s Holyrood gains
Activists from Stand Up To Racism Scotland gather in Glasgow's George Square, in a counter protest to a far-right rally, September 7, 2024

THOUSANDS are expected to attend an anti-racism rally in Glasgow tomorrow as part of a “day of rage” against Reform UK’s expected gains in Holyrood.

Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) and Women Against the Far Right called on people to march through the city centre to mark the first time a far-right party has a parliamentary presence in Scotland.

Glasgow southside anti-racist campaigner Zamard Zahid said: “This is our chance as the people of Scotland to unite and send a strong message that we reject the hateful and divisive politics of Reform and the far right, that we choose to celebrate diversity and not fear it.”

The campaign groups distributed around 200,000 leaflets across Scotland urging voters to reject Reform UK’s racist politics during the election campaign.

SUTR also co-ordinated 11 unity marches and rallies across the country, with tomorrow’s march billed as the culmination of this programme of action.
