WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: The new-look Champions League continues tomorrow evening with two-time winners Wolfsburg hosting Paris St Germain and Manchester United making their debut in the group/league stage at home to Norway’s Valerenga.
Chelsea are at Twente Enschede, Real Madrid meet Roma and Austria’s St Polten take on Atletico Madrid.
This year’s final will be held at Oslo’s Ullevaal stadium, Valerenga’s former home ground.
SPEEDWAY: Emil Sayfutdinov top-scored with 11+1 points for the Ipswich Witches as they came from behind to win 47-43 at Leicester in Monday evening’s first leg of the Premiership Grand Final.
Max Fricke bagged 12 points and Ryan Douglas notched 11+1 for Leicester.
The second leg takes place at Ipswich on Thursday with the Witches looking for their first top-flight title since 1998.
ICE HOCKEY: Glasgow Clan and British international Robert Lachowicz became only the fourth player to make 1,000 appearances in the Elite League when he started in Glasgow’s 3-2 win at Sheffield Steelers.
The 35-year-old Nottingham-born forward spent 14 years with his home-town club, winning an Elite League title and seven Challenge Cups before also playing for Manchester, Guildford and German club Duisburg Foxes.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Asian World Cup qualifying play-offs kick off tomorrow afternoon with Group A’s match between Oman and Qatar in Doha before Indonesia meet Saudi Arabia in Jeddah for Group B’s first match.
Oman have never reached the finals and the last time Indonesia qualified was in 1938, when they were labelled as the Dutch East Indies.
Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan, South Korea and Jordan have already qualified from the Asian Conference.
