Second-placed Celtic thrashed Motherwell 7-1, Rangers slumped to a 3-2 defeat at defending champions Hibernian while Aberdeen eased to a 5-0 win over bottom of the table Hamilton and Bayley Hutchison bagged a hat-trick as Hearts crushed Montrose 7-0.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY: Manchester Storm are the surprise early Elite League leaders following their 4-0 win at Glasgow and 4-3 overtime success over Dundee. Second-placed Cardiff beat Coventry Blaze 3-0 and edged to a 3-2 overtime win at Nottingham Panthers while Jamal Watson scored a hat-trick as Guildford opened their league account by coming from a goal down to cruise to a 7-2 victory against the Fife Flyers in Kirkcaldy.
MEN’S CRICKET: Afghanistan take a 2-0 lead into tomorrow’s final leg of their three-match one-day series against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi. The Afghanis won the first game by five wickets and comfortably claimed the second by 81 runs. They are currently ranked as the world’s seventh best 50 over team, three places above Bangladesh and in Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammed Nabi have two of the world’s top three all rounders.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: France will face Morocco in Wednesday’s first Under 20s World Cup semi-finals after they beat Norway 2-1 in this morning’s last eight clash. Argentina are up against Colombia in the other semi-final on Thursday after Colombia knocked out Spain 3-2 and Argentina saw off Mexico 2-0, who knocked out hosts Chile in the last 16. No British teams qualified for the tournament.
