MEN’S GOLF: Tiger Woods has announced he has undergone back surgery to replace a collapsed disc in his spine. The 15-time major winner had lumbar disk replacement surgery on Friday after experiencing pain in his lower back. He said the operation had been “deemed successful,” although is not known when the 49-year-old will return to golf.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Jordan Williams netted a hat-trick as defending champions The New Saints increased their lead at the top of the Cymru Premier to six points with a dominant 6-2 win over second-placed Penybont. Caernarfon drew 2-2 at Barry Town, Haverfordwest beat out-of-form Bala 2-0, Colwyn Bay drew 0-0 with Cardiff Met, Connah’s Quay won 3-0 at Llansawel Briton Ferry and Flint Town thumped bottom of the table Llanelli 4-0.

MEN’S CYCLING: World champion Tadej Pogacar won his fifth successive Il Lombardia one-day monument race on Saturday after attacking on the Passo di Ganda with 37kms to go and coming home one minute 48 seconds ahead of runner-up Remco Evenepoel. Michael Storer was a further minute and 26 seconds back in third. Tom Pidcock was the highest placed Briton in sixth with Adam Yates 11th, Ben Tullett 14th and Oscar Onley 17th.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Cape Town Stormers top the United Rugby Championship on points difference after they romped to a 34-0 win at bottom club Scarlets and second-placed Munster held off Edinburgh 20-19. Leinster saw off Durban 31-5 for their first win, Treviso cruised past Johannesburg 41-15, Ospreys beat Zebre 24-0, Glasgow thrashed the Dragons 49-0, Cardiff edged Connacht 14-8 and Ulster defeated Pretoria Bulls 28-7.
