MEN’S FOOTBALL: Only a win will be enough for England’s under-21s when they face Ukraine in Bournemouth tomorrow night if they are to retain any chance of finishing top of Group F in the Euro 2025 qualifiers.

Ukraine have won all eight of their group games, including last October’s 3-2 win over defending champions England.

Elsewhere this evening, Scotland meet Belgium in Group B and Wales play Czechia in Group I.

SPEEDWAY: Tom Brennan top-scored with 13 points as Poole Pirates thumped the Oxford Cheetahs 56-34 on Wednesday evening to comfortably overturn their 12-point first-leg deficit and claimed a third Championship Grand Final crown in the last four years.

The Pirates lost only three times in finishing top of the Championship during the regular season, four points clear of runners-up Oxford.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Wales and Japan are both looking for their first wins at the WXV 2 tournament in South Africa when they clash on Friday afternoon.

The Welsh are bottom of the table with just one bonus point, and a loss will see them relegated to WXV 3.

Ireland face the USA in WXV 1 this evening, Scotland meet Australia tomorrow and England, seeking their 20th successive win, play Canada on Sunday morning.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Derry host Dublin’s Bohemians at the Brandywell tomorrow evening in the first of their two League of Ireland games in four days.

Derry, who last won the title in 1997 and finished as runners-up in the last two seasons, are four points behind table-toppers Shelbourne with two games in hand. They next face Sligo Rovers on Monday night.

Waterford play Drogheda in this evening’s other League of Ireland fixture.
