MEN’S BASKETBALL: Cleveland Cavaliers will face Detroit Pistons in the NBA’s Eastern Conference semi-finals after Jarrett Allen hit 22 points and 19 rebounds in their 114-102 win over Toronto that sealed a 4-3 series win. The first leg of the other last-four clash between New York Knicks and Philadelphia tips off tomorrow morning. In the Western Conference reigning champions Oklahoma will face LA Lakers and Minnesota take on San Antonio.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Scottish Premiership play-offs kick off tomorrow evening with a first leg quarter-final tie between Dunfermline and Arbroath. The teams were separated by a point in third and fourth during the regular season. The second leg takes place on Friday with the winners going on to meet Championship runners-up Partick Thistle in the semi-final before facing the Premiership’s eleventh-placed side for a spot in the top tier.
HORSE RACING: Cherie DeVaux became the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner when jockey Jose Ortiz steered outsider Golden Tempo from last place to a neck victory over Renegade, with Ocelli a length further back in third. Sunday’s 152nd running of the 10-furlong Grade One race, which is held annually at the Churchill Downs course in Louisville, was watched by an on-course attendance of over 150,000.
MEN’S CRICKET: Australian all-rounder Aaron Hardie smashed an unbeaten 56 from 39 balls after taking 4-27 as Peshawar Zalmi beat Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets with 28 balls to spare to win the Pakistan Super League. Put into bat, Hyderabad had cruised to 71-2 with Saim Ayub notching up 54 before slumping to 129 all out. Peshawar topped the table during the regular season and lost only once throughout the campaign.
