SPEEDWAY: Matej Zagar top-scored with 14 points as Birmingham earned their first home Premiership victory of the season, winning the last heat to squeeze out defending champions Belle Vue 47-43 on Monday night.

In the Knockout Cup semi-final first legs, Leicester thumped holders Sheffield 54-36 and Jan Kvech bagged a massive 16+2 points as King’s Lynn beat last year’s runners-up Ipswich 48-42.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The seemingly never ending football season continues tomorrow evening as Germany meet Portugal in Munich for the first Nations League semi-final.

Germany have never reached this stage of the competition before, whereas Portugal were the inaugural winners in 2019.

Thursday’s other last four tie sees the world’s second- and third-ranked teams clash when France meet Spain in Stuttgart. The final takes place on Sunday.

MEN’S CRICKET: Scotland lost a crucial World Cup League Two fixture to Nepal by one wicket on Monday after spinner Mark Watt’s bowled a wide on the last ball of the match.

Chasing Scotland’s 296-7 the Nepalese were struggling on 192-7 before number nine Karan KC smashed four sixes on his way to an unbeaten 65 from 41 balls.

The Scots next face the Netherlands on Friday, before playing Nepal again on Sunday.

MEN’S BOXING: Jamaica’s three-time world champion Mike McCallum has died at the age of 68. 

He held world titles at three different weights, was inducted into the international boxing Hall of Fame, and won 49 of his 55 professional fights with a 75 per cent knockout record.

He defeated a catalogue of boxing powerhouses including Don Curry, Milton McCrory, Steve Collins and Sumbu Kalambay and was never stopped throughout his career.
