Somerset are a further 11 points back in third after they drew at Nottingham. Tom Bailey bagged match figures of 5-83 as Lancashire beat bottom club Kent and Warwickshire held on for a draw with Hampshire.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Reigning champions Toulouse take on Bordeaux Begles in the Top 14’s play-off final tomorrow evening.

Toulouse saw off La Rochelle 39-23 in their semi-final while Bordeaux squeezed past Stade Francais 22-20.

In other French rugby news, Stuart Hogg, Scotland’s all-time leading try-scorer, has announced that he is coming out of retirement after signing a two-year contract to play for Montpellier next season.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: New South Wales scored six first-half tries en route to thumping defending champions Queensland 38-18 in Wednesday’s second State of Origin match to tie the series 1-1 with a game to go.

Brian To’o and Zac Lomax both crossed the line twice as Queensland found themselves on the wrong end of the heaviest first half mauling in State of Origin history.

The deciding match kicks off in Brisbane on July 17.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Table-topping Shelbourne face the League of Ireland’s best defensive record when they host Galway at Tolka Park tomorrow evening while second-placed Derry also have home advantage against bottom club Drogheda.
