Andy Murray lost in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) to world number 54 Marcos Giron in the Stuttgart Open first round on Tuesday evening.

The two-time Wimbledon champion, who has slipped to 97th in the world rankings, was playing in his 999th singles match.
