SPEEDWAY: Jason Edwards top-scored with 12+1 points riding at number seven as Ipswich Witches brushed aside bottom club Birmingham 56-34 on Thursday evening to move two points clear of defending champions Belle Vue at the top of the Premiership. Leicester leap-frogged Sheffield into third after they won 48-42 in South Yorkshire thanks to a 10+1 points haul from Sam Masters and Max Fricke weighing in with another 10.

MEN’S CRICKET: New Zealand meet South Africa in the final of their Twenty20 tri-series with Zimbabwe in Harare on Sunday. The Kiwis are unbeaten in the competition after spinner Ish Sodhi took 4-12 in their 60 run win over the tournament’s hosts on Thursday. They have beaten South Africa by 7 wickets and 21 runs in their group games and paceman Jacob Duffy currently tops the world’s bowling rankings in the short format game.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: National Conference Premier table-toppers Siddal are in Castleford on Saturday to face Lock Lane while second-placed West Hull take on Waterhead Warriors. Bottom club Leigh Miners, who only have one win to their name, are at York Acorn, fellow strugglers Dewsbury Moor take on Rochdale Mayfield, Thatto Heath play Bradford-based West Bowling and defending champions Hunslet travel to Wath Brow.

MEN’S BOXING: Reece Bellotti defends his British and Commonwealth super featherweight title against European and WBC International belt holder Ryan Garner in Bournemouth on Saturday night. Garner is unbeaten in 17 bouts whereas Bellotti has lost 5 of his 25 fights. In Madison Square Garden Puerto Rican Xander Zayas puts his 25 fight unbeaten record on the line against Mexico’s Jorge Garcia for the vacant WBO super welterweight championship.
