Second-placed Exeter beat Ealing 38-19 while bottom-of-the-table Leicester went down 33-24 to Harlequins and remain winless.
CYCLING: Mathieu van der Poel claimed his tenth successive Cyclocross victory after racing home at the UCI World Cup event in Zonhoven, Belgium on Sunday. Joris Nieuwenhuis was second with Laurens Sweek third. Puck Pieterse took the women’s race, her fourth win a row, after Lucinda Brand had crashed while leading. Inge Van der Heijden finished second with 19-year-old Welsh cyclist Zoe Backstedt in third.
WOMEN’S CRICKET: India meet Australia in Mumbai tomorrow for the deciding leg of their three-match Twenty20 series after the Aussies won the second match by six wickets on Sunday. Chasing India’s total of 130-8 Ellyse Perry, playing her 300th international match, clubbed an unbeaten 34 from just 21 balls to steer the Southern Stars home with an over to spare. Australia top the world’s Twenty20 rankings with India in third.
ICE HOCKEY: Sheffield march on at the top of the Elite League after beating Glasgow twice to notch up their twelfth successive win and opened up a 12-point lead over second-placed Cardiff. At the other end of the table Manchester’s four-match losing run was ended with a 2-1 win at Coventry and bottom club Fife lost 4-3 at home to Nottingham after coming from three down for a 4-3 shoot-out win over Belfast.
