MEN’S FOOTBALL: Reigning champions The New Saints lead the Cymru Premier by a point after Josh Park’s headed goal in the ninth minute of stoppage time earned them a 2-1 victory over Newtown on Saturday. Second-placed Penybont edged out Connah’s Quay 1-0 and Haverfordwest County are a further eight points back in third after Ben Ahmun scored twice as they came from behind to thump second-bottom Llansawel Briton Ferry 5-1.

MEN’S CRICKET: Will Young notched 90 not out as New Zealand crushed Sri Lanka by nine wickets in the first leg of their three match one-day series in Wellington on Sunday morning. The Kiwis needed just over 26 overs to chase down Sri Lanka’s 178 all out. Matt Henry was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers with 4-19 as the tourists never recovered from a poor start that saw them floundering at 23-4.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Edinburgh held off a second half fightback from Brython Thunder to claim a 22-15 bonus point win, maintain the league’s only unbeaten record and move top of the Celtic Challenge on points difference. Katie Corrigan bagged three tries as Ireland’s Wolfhounds stuffed bottom of the table Glasgow 48-7 in Belfast after Emily Lane had touched down twice for the Clovers in their 29-7 victory over Cardiff-based Gwalia Lightning.
