MEN’S FOOTBALL: Harry Kane netted his 21st Bundesliga goal of the season as Bayern Munich came from a goal down to secure a whopping 5-1 win at fourth placed Leipzig on Saturday evening.
Munich remain unbeaten after 18 games and top the table by 11 points from Borussia Dortmund, who needed Emre Can’s stoppage-time penalty to squeeze past new bottom club St Pauli 3-2.
Hoffenheim edged out Leverkusen 1-0 to move third.
MEN’S CRICKET: Afghanistan begin a three-match Twenty20 series against the West Indies in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates tomorrow afternoon.
The Windies suffered a 3-1 loss touring New Zealand in November while the Afghans gained a 3-0 series whitewash in Zimbabwe.
With the World Cup starting next month Afghanistan are currently ranked as the world’s 10th best short-format team, four places below the West Indies.
MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Less than four weeks after their rebirth, Salford began their new life as a Championship club with a thumping 44-0 defeat at home to Oldham.
Watched by a crowd of approximately 5,000 the part-time Salford squad conceded eight tries against an Oldham team that finished fourth last year.
Salford face a tricky visit to Chiswick for next week’s Challenge Cup second round tie against the Hammersmith Hill Hoists amateurs.
