NETBALL: Grace Nweke netted 34 goals as the New Zealand Ferns cruised to a comfortable 80-48 win over Scotland in the second leg of their two test series in East Kilbride on Tuesday night. The Ferns, ranked as the world’s second best team, eight places above Scotland, had won the first test 63-41. They begin a three-test series against England at the Copper Box Arena, London on Saturday.
MEN’S CRICKET: Pakistan take a 1-0 lead into tomorrow’s second leg of their three-match one-day series against Sri Lanka after they edged to a six run in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. Salman Ali Agha top-scored with an unbeaten 105 and Hussain Talat hit a rapid 62 as the Pakistanis posted 299-5 before Sri Lanka’s chase faded with the loss of wickets after a quick start. Haris Rauf returned Pakistan’s best bowling figures with 4-61.
MEN’S GOLF: Rory McIlroy is seeking to become the European tour’s leading prize winner for the fourth consecutive year and claim his seventh overall title as the season comes to a close with the World Tour Championship teeing off in Dubai tomorrow. The Irishman can only be overhauled by two of the starting list, English golfers Tyrrell Hatton and Marco Penge, who has played in 15 more tournaments than McIlroy this year.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: Rochdale missed the chance to move top of the National League when they crashed to a 4-1 defeat at York on Tuesday night. Carlisle remain at the summit, a point clear of Boreham Wood with Rochdale a further point back in fourth, but they do have two games in hand. Forest Green Rovers enjoyed a 4-2 home win over 10-man Tamworth to climb up to third and York are now fifth.
