MEN’S FOOTBALL: Palestine play their second group C match at the Asian Cup tomorrow evening when they meet the United Arab Emirates in al-Wakrah’s al-Janoub stadium.

The Palestinians lost their first game 4-1 to Iran while the UAE sealed a 3-1 win over Hong Kong, the lowest ranked team in the tournament.

Tomorrow’s other games are in group B where Syria face Australia and India take on Uzbekistan.

MEN’S CRICKET: Zimbabwe face Sri Lanka in Colombo tomorrow for the deciding leg of their three-match Twenty20 series after beating the Sri Lankans for the first time ever in the short format game on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 173, Craig Ervine top-scored with 70 and Luke Jongwe smashed an unbeaten 25 from 12 balls before Clive Madande swept the game’s penultimate delivery for six to see the Zimbabweans home.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY: Hannah French, Tessa Howard and Giselle Ansley all scored twice as Great Britain thumped Malaysia 8-1 to reach tomorrow’s semi-finals of the Olympic qualifying tournament in Valencia.

Ireland play Spain before GB face an unbeaten Belgium for a place in the final. Only the finalists and third-placed team will qualify for Paris.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Joel Emblid netted 41 points as the Philadelphia 76ers came from behind to beat reigning champions Denver 126-121 this morning.

Phoenix edged  Sacramento 119-117 and Oklahoma lost out 128-117 at the LA Clippers in today’s other games.

The Boston Celtics put the NBA’s best record on the line against a misfiring San Antonio team tomorrow while high-flying Minnesota take on Detroit.
