WOMEN’S FOOTBALL:
Jane Ross’s first-half goal sealed a narrow 1-0 win for table-topping Rangers over Hearts on Wednesday night that extended their unbeaten run to 19 games and kept them six points clear in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
Second-placed Celtic won 2-0 at Motherwell, Glasgow City thumped bottom club Hamilton 6-0, Aberdeen came from behind to see off Montrose 2-1 and Partick edged out Spartans 1-0.
MEN’S BASKETBALL:
Tel Aviv won the race for EuroCup Group A’s second automatic quarter-final place after they romped to a 94-73 win over Besiktas in Istanbul, and London suffered an 85-80 home defeat to the Vilnius Wolves.
Defending champions Gran Canaria also surprisingly missed out in Group B when they lost 90-77 at Buducnost Podgorica.
London will next face Ankara’s Turk Telecom in their final chance to reach the last eight.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY:
Ryan Tait scored twice as the Guildford Flames cruised past Glasgow 6-3 in the second leg of their Challenge Cup semi-final.
The Flames will face Sheffield in the first all-English final for more than a decade.
Sheffield are currently the dominant force in British ice hockey, sitting 18 points clear of third-placed Guildford in the Elite League and losing only once in their last 22 matches.
MEN’S FOOTBALL:
The qualifying stages for this year’s Copa Libertadores, the South American equivalent of Europe’s Champions League, continue in Ecuador tomorrow as Quito-based SD Aucas take on Paraguay’s Nacional.
Venezuela’s Puerto Cabello beat Montevideo-based Defensor Sporting 3-2 in their first stage, first-leg clash and Aurora from Cochabamba, Bolivia grabbed a surprise 1-0 win over Peru’s Melgar on Thursday.
