DARTS:
The Green Machine Michael van Gerwen beat teenager Luke Littler to win the second round of the Premier League of Darts in Berlin on Thursday night.
2023 World Champion Michael Smith, who won the first stage but lost in the semis this time around, tops the table by two points from van Gerwen and Littler.
The third round of this marathon 17-week competition takes place in Glasgow next Thursday.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY:
Britain thrashed China 10-1 in Cardiff on Thursday night to kick-start their Group H qualifying campaign for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
They will face-off against Serbia, who are four places below China in the world rankings, on Saturday evening in the Welsh capital before meeting Romania on Sunday.
The Romanians beat Serbia 4-0 in their opening game. Britain last participated at the Olympics in 1948.
MEN’S CRICKET:
India will face Australia in the Under 19s World Cup final on Sunday morning after both teams enjoyed narrow semi-final wins.
Chasing 245 the Indians earned a two-wicket win against hosts South Africa, thanks to a 171-run partnership between Sachin Dhas and captain Uday Sharan while Australia squeaked home by just one wicket after Tom Straker’s 6-24 had restricted Pakistan to 179 all out.
MEN’S CYCLING:
Adam Yates makes his first appearance of the season when the Tour of Oman rolls out off Al Rustaq Fort on Saturday.
The Bury-born rider, Britain’s only representative in this five-stage race, will lead the UAE Emirates team competing against the likes of Louis Meintjes, Emanuel Buchmann, Elie Gesbert and Warren Barguil for the general classification title.
Last year’s winner Matteo Jorgensen is not in the startlist.
