MEN’S CRICKET: Sussex have been handed a 12-point deduction for next year’s County Championship competition after running up “sustained operating losses” during 2025. The club will start the Twenty20 Blast and One-Day Cup competitions with one point penalties and a potential £100,000 fine will also be levied if they do not stick to an ECB imposed salary cap and produce a new three-year business plan.
HORSE RACING: Aamilah Aswat, the first black woman jockey in British national hunt racing, rode her first winner after just four rides when the 20-year-old partnered 9/1 shot Guchen to victory at Kempton Park on Monday. It was also Guchen’s first taste of success in his nine races. The horse is owned by the Friends of Ebony Horse Club which supports disadvantaged south Londoners to experience horse-riding.
MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Coppa Italia quarter finals kick off tomorrow evening with Serie A table-toppers Inter Milan taking on Torino, the lowest ranked team left in the competition, before fifteen-time winners Juventus are at Atalanta tomorrow night. Holders Bologna are not in action until next week when they face Lazio after Napoli have played Como, the only team left in the last eight who have not previously reached the final.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: Alperen Sengun top scored with 39 points as the Houston Rockets edged to a 118-114 win at Indiana in the NBA on Tuesday morning while Minnesota’s winning run ended 128-137 in Memphis and LA Clippers went down 113-128 at home to Philadelphia. Charlotte Hornets earned their seventh straight win after coming from behind to beat struggling New Orleans 102-95 on Monday night.
