ICE HOCKEY: Defending champions Belfast still top the Elite League by four points with a game in hand despite winning only one leg of their weekend double header against Nottingham. Second-placed Cardiff won 3-2 in overtime at Guildford but lost 5-2 at home to Sheffield, who also beat Coventry 4-2 to move just one point further off the pace in third. Bottom club Fife edged out Guildford 4-3 but went down 5-2 in Dundee.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Gloucester-Hartpury extended the English Premiership’s only hundred per cent record to 10 games after seeing off Harlequins with a 45-22 bonus point win. Second-placed Saracens needed Zoe Harrison’s late long range penalty to seal their 33-30 victory over Bristol while Exeter saw off Loughborough 26-5 and Sale came from behind to squeeze past Ealing 36-31 for only their second win of the season.

BASKETBALL: London Lions will face Manchester in this year’s Super League Cup final after beating Cheshire 165-156 on aggregate. Patrick Smith junior top-scored with 20 points for Manchester in their 99-92 second leg win over Surrey that sealed a comfortable 200-179 success. Manchester’s women also reached their final with a 78-72 win over Oaklands. Both finals will be played at the Manchester Arena on March 22nd.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Laura Berry bagged a hat-trick as holders Rangers eased to an 8-0 thumping of Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals. Nine-time winners Glasgow City battled past third tier club Stenhousemuir 2-0 and Celtic needed extra time to see off Hearts 4-3 after the game had ended 2-2. Dundee United’s game at Montrose was abandoned during the second half following a serious injury to one of their players.
