WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Sarah Beckett scored two tries as Gloucester-Hartpury continued their unbeaten start to the English Premiership season after holding on to edge out Ealing 29-28. 

The reigning champions haven’t lost a league match for more than a year. 

Second-placed Saracens beat Loughborough 33-15 on Sunday after Exeter had brushed aside Bristol 44-10 and Leicester continued their losing run with a 28-56 home defeat to Harlequins.

ICE HOCKEY: Nottingham Panthers top the Elite League by two points after their long weekend in Scotland saw them gain wins at Glasgow and Fife but suffer an overtime 3-2 loss in Dundee. 

Second-placed Sheffield hit back form a surprise 3-1 home defeat against Coventry by easing to a 4-0 victory at Dundee. 

Cardiff are a point further back in third following wins over defending champions Belfast and Glasgow.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Californian-born Alyssa Marin top-scored with 24 points and Papua New Guinea’s Shanique Lucas weighed in with 20 as Newcastle Eagles preserved the Super League’s only 100 per cent record with a narrow 66-62 over struggling Cardiff Met. 

The Eagles top the table by two points from a chasing pack of four teams while Cardiff remain second bottom without a win from their opening four fixtures.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The sixth round of Champions League action continues on Tuesday evening with nine games including Chelsea at Atalanta, Tottenham hosting Slavia Prague and Liverpool travelling to Inter Milan. 

Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty are searching for their first win when they take on Olympiakos, Bayern Munich face Sporting Lisbon, Monaco meet Galatasaray, PSV play Atletico Madrid, Marseille visit Union Saint-Gilloise  and Eintracht Frankfurt are at Barcelona.
