MEN’S CRICKET: New Zealand thrashed the West Indies by 323 runs in the third Test at Mount Maunganui this morning for a 2-0 series win. 

Chasing 462 to win, the Windies collapsed from 87-0 to 138 all out with Jacob Duffy taking 5-42. 

Earlier Kiwi batsmen Tom Latham and Devon Conway became the first opening partnership to score centuries in both innings and set a record combined total for first wicket partnerships of 515. 

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL: London Lions hit back from Friday’s surprise 74-91 home defeat by Manchester to win 82-74 at bottom club Caledonia on Sunday evening and remain top of the Super League by four points with a game in hand. 

Second-placed Bristol eased past Caledonia 87-67, Maceo Jack top-scored with 23 points as Newcastle saw off Leicester 94-85 and second-bottom Surrey suffered defeats to Manchester and Cheshire.

 

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Arsenal host Crystal Palace in their rearranged English League Cup quarter-final on Tuesday evening, with the winners set to face Chelsea in a two-legged semi-final at the start of next year. 

Despite a recent blip in-form, Palace are still eighth in the Premier League, 13 points behind the table-topping Gunners. 

The other last four clash will see defending champions Newcastle up against eight-time winners Manchester City. 

 

ICE HOCKEY: Sheffield moved level with Nottingham Panthers at the top of the Elite League after they enjoyed narrow wins in Cardiff and Coventry, while the Panthers were thumped 6-2 at home to Guildford. 

Fife Flyers lost both legs of their double-header with Glasgow to remain firmly anchored to the bottom of the table while Coventry grabbed a 2-1 shoot-out win in Guildford, Belfast stuffed Dundee 7-1 and Cardiff won 3-1 in Manchester.
